Weatherby vanguard in McMillan edge stock?

I have a weatherby vanguard (gen1) in 300wsm I am going to get a McMillan stock for it. However I am tossed up whether or not to get the edge to save a little weight? The recoil is quite manageable for me as is, I know a few ounces lighter stock will sharpen that a bit. I am wondering If anyone have put a vanguard In a McMillan edge and what they thought of it? Specifically how it balances, I'm concerned it may be a bit heavy in the barrel end?
 
With respect to recoil I suspect the style of stock, fit and the recoil pad will make more of an impact (no pun intended) on recoil than a few oz of weight.
 
I'm more concerned about the balance of the rifle if I go with the lighter edge. I don't want it terribly front heavy, a bit is ok. I'm thinking the option of a limbsaver pad and correct LOP for me with the McMillan should balance out the felt recoil increase in the lighter stock. Maybe I'm overthinking this? There are just so many options with mcmillans and I want to get it right.
 
You should call McMillan and ask them. They restrict Edge fill to certain calibers. No point in asking about balance if the fill choice isn't even an option.
 
It's hard to say as the way a rifle feels is a personal thing. If it were me I'd go with the Edge or maybe a Manners MCS-EH3. I have never handled the Manners Elite Hunter series, but it seems like an interesting alternative. The nice thing about the McMillan is that they have quite a good variety of designs/styles available.
 
Yup 300 win mag is the top for edge fill. I'm not very familiar wit manners product line. Maybe I'll take a look,although I'm pretty sold on mcmillans. I've been happy with the others I've gotten. I might just have to roll the dice on this one and get the edge?
 
A sako hunter edge with the clear gel coat to show the carbon fiber would be cool. I bought my dad a sako hunter for his 243 in standard fill and it's a little butt heavy, but there is a lot of material there.

I'm pretty sure my neck McMillan will be an edge fill after handling one.
 
I'm pretty sure I'm sold on the sako classic. I had one on a sako AV and it fit me real nice and I liked it. The carbon fiber look would be cool but I'm kinda stuck on the speckletone paint. There are so many options with that I've almost gone cross eyed looking at pics of all the different colour combinations. I'm thinking black with grey specs would look good on a stainless rifle, but that could change lol.
