I was wondering what everyone is running for rings and bases on the Vanguards? I've always been partial to Leupold rings and bases but I always see weatherby's sporting Talley rings. Also I've read that some Remington bases are compatible with certain vanguards does anybody know exactly which ones?
Thanks

I have two Weatherby Vanguards. On one I put Burris XTB 2 piece 700 bases and Burris Signature Zee rings as I like using those rings on some of my scopes. On the other Vanguard I tried the Talley lightweights that many people like. Both setups work great.

^^^ Same here, my three Vanguards and my Browning all have Talley Lightweights (well one of the Wby's has the Wby "branded" Talley's and same with the Browning - Browning branded, but made by Talley).

While most of the mounts listed for the Rem 700 also list the Wby/Howa 1500's as the same mount, Talley in lightweights, one pieces and two piece bases have different part numbers. Don't know if that's simply for their own purpose or because there is some minuscule difference that they are the only company that bothers to take into consideration.

I love the lightweight (ring/base in one) - figure that is one less thing to come loose, get knocked etc.

I've used Rem 700 "talley type" one piece rings/bases, EGW rails, Warne steel 2 piece weaver bases, weaver grand slam bases, all worked fine with no issues.
Here is my Vanguard 243 with the RemTallys....use to be able to get them for $30.
