Weatherby vanguard S2 / Howa 1500

Ive been looking around for one of these rifles in a 25-06 but no luck. Starting to think neither is making a 25-06 in these models any longer. If anyone has any information on this I would appreciate it. Every dealer I look up does not list the 25-06 which leads me to believe they are no longer made.

I'll be contacting some dealers this week to se if they have any 25-06 coming in. I will also contact Epps. Friend of mine picked up a stainless xbolt in 25-06 from Epps and is happy with it but it was awful pricey.

I was looking at the same one over the holidays - but not sure on how good the bore is - just didn't want to take a chance on getting it only to find out the throat was gone.

I have 5 Vanguard S2's. Really good product as are most Weatherby's.

I'm having a hell of a time deciding between the vanguard and Tikka, I've always been a Tikka guy but I do like the price difference and tge extra 2 inches of barrel on the vanguard

Another couple places to check out is Goble's in ON and Siwash Sports in BC for Wby/Howa. Yes, stock is hurting for most retailers.
I've owned a couple of Vanguard 2s in 270 and 243. Excellent rifles, and I honestly prefer the floorplate mags over the removable box ones, as well as the extra weight these rifles have.

I have six Vanguards and have owned just as many Tikkas, my Wife's rifle is a Tikka, both are good rifles and you can't go wrong with either, I will probably not buy another tikka but find myself looking at Vanguards for sale. I prefer Vanguard stocks and the hinged floor plate.

Vanguard/Howa rifles are a pretty good buy when you look at what goes into making them. Big forged/milled receivers with integral recoil lug, 1 piece forged bolts, hammer forged barrels with traditional attachment, 1 piece bottom metal with hinged floorplate, only plastic used is for the followers.
I find them a tad heavy for short action cartridges, but pretty ideal for long action and magnum chamberings.

I have a 1500 in 338 Winchester. It is a bit of a mittfull with 250gr loads, but very accurate and handy.

Well it wasn't me that bought it, I spoke to Tom at Siwash about it the other day however it wasn't worth the price to me after the good old inflated CP shipping rates were quoted. Shipping is outrageous. I work for a logistics company and the rates are just getting carried away.
