weatherby vanguard s2 price?

I find that even the Talley low rings are pretty high, compared to low rings from some other makers. Why not buy a set of lows and one of mediums, and just return the wrong one? I just mounted a Leupold 2-7x32mm scope (not onto a Vanguard, so actual measurements won't translate) using Talley lows and the amount of clearance at both ends is almost silly. Leupolds tend to have slimmer eyepieces than a lot of other scopes, but still...if you can get away with the lows on your set-up it would make for a much cleaner, sleeker and better handling assembly than unnecessarily high rings.
 
Here it is with the medium bases. Might be able to get away with the lows but it will be close. Keep in mind this ring/scope combo offers almost no eye relief adjustment. Maybe 4mm. Feels comfortable for me fortunately.

Okay, forget my other post...that is pretty snug. I see what you mean about the eye relief...any position you want, as long as it's right here. :)

Any problems with the bolt clearing the scope?
 
I have the low bases with a 3-9x42 Redfield.

I don't have bolt clearance issues with the scope but it is close enough that it opens the flip cap on the eyepiece because of the little tab on it (to open it).

Without the flip caps on it "just" clears.

I think it depends on the place you buy it. However, I think they're gaining a following. It's a Weatherby, it's Sub-MOA, and it's affordable.
I recently bought one for a multi use varminter, range gun, deer gun in .243Win. Paid about a grand for the kit. Came with Rifle, (cheap) sling, 3x9x42 Redfield Revenge, Rings and a hard case. Couldn't really beat that with a stick. Added on a decent sling and a bipod. Very happy with it's performance!!

A friend just picked up a Vanguard S2 in 223 for $487 at Wholesale Sports. I have owned a couple of Vanguards, as well as a couple of Mark Vs, and the Vanguards were more accurate rifles.
 
There are still a few on sale at WSS if anybody is intested; great deal on an excellent firearm. Jobrook has the Howa ( same thing) at a good price as well.
 
We call them No Sale Sports here in AB referring to the gun counter lack of customer service in the Calgary store.

I noticed that. I usually shop south of there and get excellent service. Stopped at the Calgary store and it was like I didn't exist. Thankfully the center fire ammo was help yourself. if the ammo was available in Lethbridge, Calgary wouldn't have got my money.
 
Wholesale Sports in Kelowna just had a sale on select rifles. They had a few Weatherby Vanguard S2 at $470. Synthetic/blue; 24" barrel.
