Weatherby Vanguard Series 2 sale 43% off

Hey guys, what bases are you using on the S2's,the last 2 I have bought I put on2 piece rem 700 weaver bases and couldn't get scope height adjusted,I did the JB weld trick on the back base,I had a couple sets of the 700 bases and a short action rail for a 700 already, just a heads up the 700 SA rail will not fit the SA S2 at least mine wouldn't.
Great rifles thow,I might just go buy another at that price just for the action and trigger.I bought a S2 in 6.5 Creedmoor a while back ,cost me over $700

Talley lightweights. Call Clay from Prophet River.

I don't know why "they" say Remington 700 bases fit vanguards, because they really, really don't!

Hey guys, a new hunter here. I got 30-06 Savage 116 model with the Weaver scope. Decent rifle IMO and wondering if the Vanguard S2 will be better than it. I cannot afford to own more than one rifle, so if purchased the S2 will need to be a direct replacement for the 116 (I will need to sell the 116). Basically wondering if this deal is too good to pass. I have had the Savage for about 2 years, already have one buck with it, I like it but if the Vanguard is miles ahead of it, wouldn't mind switching them. My friends have Sako's and Tikka's but contrary to them and probably to all sane people out there I don't see the benefits of spending two, three times the money when the Savage has been OK and does the job.
Is the blued finish that much a detraction compared to the stainless steel of the 116.

Cheers

I'd stick with the stainless savage, myself. One less thing. And I'm a huge Vanguard fan.

I *would* upgrade the scope. I'm hearing good things about the redfield revolution. Manufactured in the US by Leupold. Doesn't matter how good or bad the rifle is, if the scope dies.

I now have three VX-3 2.5-8x36s, a VX-3 1.75-6, and a VX-6 2-12x42. I'm a big Leupold fan.

I would also try and own a second rifle, something cheap. Having rifle #1 poop the bed and ruin the whole rest of the hunt would be a bummer. Even an iron sighted Mosin is better than nothing!

Cheers!

This was the package combo? I've owned one in 243, the international hunter package, cheap coyote gun for ice fishing...weaver scope with the bdc reticle? I honestly didn't think the scope was that bad, if it's utility hunting rifle, I wouldn't bother swapping the scope unless you actually want a better scope, but it's not a "need to" IMO

if you were buying your first gun, probably recommend the vanguard, better fit and feel overall...but you would lose too much selling at this point, stick to the savage and consider a scope upgrade if you really want to

savage is a decent gun, albeit not a refined as a vanguard...both are equally accurate

Sure you do.....set one up for nice light bullets like the 110gr vmax for splattering hogs, and one with 165gr for the deers....lol

Ordered a VS2Blaze in 270 yesterday and my order was just cancelled because they are out of stock. Apparantly a warehouse error. I checked if they have 30-06 and they are out also. Im so bummed out right now...
