I bought a Howa 1500 Varmint in .223 with green Hogue stock and 20" heavy barrel. The new Howa models have the new trigger and (3) position safety. It's the same barrelled action as the Weatherby. I dry-fired the trigger a few times and I thought it was one of the better factory triggers I've had to date.
The bluing is good quality but it's a gloss finish that I don't particularly care for. Still, it's a far cry from the utilitarian bluing found on Remington 700 SPS and other entry level models.
Haven't had the opportunity to fire it yet. I took the new rifle up to the gunsmith to have it re-barrelled to .300 Blackout. When I get it back, I'll fill you in on how I like it.
