I wouldn't pay more than $700.00 for it.
Only because everything else is overpriced imo and mine alone.
That is why I have not bought a new to me rifle in a long time.
But, if your buddy needs the cash for something important buy it and offer it in return should his circumstances change.
Either way I'll wager it is a shooter.
Again, imo and not looking to insult you or your friend.
Rob

thanks for the opinion, it’s what I’m looking for.
He has a vari x 11 that he wants to sell with it.
I really got no interest in either but if the price was right and I could make a few bucks , then why not.
He’s not hurting for cash as he’s looking to buy a rem .243 off GP.

Is he sure of the date? I thought Vangards didn’t appear until production moved to Japan in the early 70’s. Check how many bolt lugs, maybe a model V.

Yes , he has the receipts purchased from Londero sports in 1968

The wear is going to knock it down a bit. Did he have the sights added?
I would agree with the 700$ these days considering the condition.

many on here know very little about pricing or value of firearms
1 st off this was a deluxe vanguard the wood on these is worth more than a todays vanguard and the scope quality is better than the off shore junk sold in todays market a retail value would be 850-900$ so if you could buy it for 600$ -700 $ that would be a very good purchase or buy a piece of grap in the today market savage ruger american to name a few and they are 1000$
if you pass i will give him 700$ for it

the scope alone could be $400+ depending on II or III
all gloss matching parts is bonus points imo
Nice classic piece with all the looks of the Mark V series
id say 800-1000 depending on dent and scratches
and whether the sights are proper or gibbled on

We just picked up an early production Vanguard in 7mm Rem Mag with a quality scope on it for 850.00. The rifle is in my opinion a solid very good condition with probably not a lot of rounds through it.
Not sure of an invoice showing a purchase date on a Vanguard of 1968, from what I gather they weren't introduced until 1970.

He paid $701 plus he traded a Winchester 307
1968
I wasn’t interested so he listed it on NL classified

I really like Vanguards and I own a few, I have found a few wood stocked ones quite cheap, it is hard to tell the condition from the photos, I might pay $700 with the scope but not much more.
