Had one in 300 WSM. Shot like a house afire. So well, in fact, that my BIL just had to have it, so now it's his. Mine would shoot the 180 Partition into ¾moa @ 3000 fps without fail. Decent rifles, but triggers leave a bit to be desired. Eagleye.

I see with the Vanguards they have upward pressure with the front of the synthetic stocks -- has anyone else experimented with free floating to see if that helps or hurts the accuracy?

Ive got a Mossberg 30-06 by HOWA , ive had it for 25 years with a Bushnell 9 power. From day one always been a shooter , nice groups with factory ammo and even better with handloads- under an inch all day long. An absolute pleasure to own, still looks great!
When I restocked mine (.300 Weatherby) I left it free floated in the Boydds stock. Near as I can tell it never made any difference, it shoots either way.
I'm not a fan of forward pressure either, viewing it as a economy measure disguised as an accuracy measure.

As I mentioned in previous post, replacing the original wood stock with a synth including free floated barrel and glass bedding, my .300 WM's groups shrank to an average of about 3/4", using factory ammo, and if I'm up to it. With the original stock and its built in pressure point it didn't group worth a damn.
I had a few Vanguards as hunter/beater guns and they were excellent. Ive trudged through all sorts of crap hunting..snow, rain, mud, and they've held up very well. Both I owned shot around the 1" mark which is plenty good for whitetail and other big game.
