hey guys i was in stoon today and they had a weatherby vanguard package on sale for 470!! it came with a cheap sling cheap swivels and a dec scope but i dought it will last very long. i says is made in japan are all vanguards made there? it seams like a very well made gun with a nice stock. i just might have to get some new scope mounts and scope considering the scope is only worth 70 bucks! lol im going to be taking it out shooting tommorow, i bought some ppu 55 gr fmj for really cheap and some american eagal for about 12 bucks a box jhp 55 gr for yotes. its going to be my fox and yote gun! btw it is 223 cal! has anyone had any experience with this gun? im looking foward to it, i had another weatherby in 30-06 with glassbeded stock and about 400 doller scope so im interested in seeing how this gun copairs to my other one at half the price!
thanks!!

Put one together for my dad, with a Boyd's stock and a Sightron scope, whole package is under 1K and is a very decent rifle for the investment.

Actually a very comfortable and easy to point rifle.

yes ill going to use this scope for this year the next year ill upgrade to a different one! i really love this gun so far the acrion in smooth and the trigger pull is around 3 pounds. also the 223 ammo you can get for 7 bucks a box! mil surplus though. i did not know howa make vanguards. i kniow on the tv show preditor quest the guys uses howas. so they have to be a preatty good gun! and could you give me some advise on how to post pictures?
thanks!

Anything Really, the only thing there I wouldn't take would be a 22-250 or one of the Weatherby chamberings. If it is a choice, between a SA or LA I'd go SA.

Is your fee in 12,24,48 format or 26,40, 66 ??? :D

More like a cup of Timmie's. (it took a while to figure that one out.:)) PM me a number you can be reached at in the morning so we can confirm a caliber choice. They are getting picked over, guys are carrying them out by the arm load.

To the OP, if your vanguard has a 1:12 twist barrel try out some 45gr umc jhp(~$9/box) or the winchester 'varmint' high velocity 45gr jhp that come in 40 round packs (~$24/box). Ours can put those just shy of .5in at 100yds and sometimes even better. No coincidence they're what weatherby says they achieved they're best groupings with.

alright guys i just got back from shooting the new vanguard! it shot great. half inch at 100 yards. so i took it to 200 yards and shot about 1.5 inch! and that was with a garbage scope and cheap ppu 55 gr 223 ammo. the headstamp on the caseing says 5.56x45 but the guy at the gun store said it is 223 ammo. i am very impessed with this gun for 500 plus tax and another 60 bucks for 120 rounds. Even though its made in japan it is a great shooter and recomend it for coyote hunting or even deer hunting, if its legal in your prov. cant wait to get some yotes with this gun!
thanks!

Not a thing wrong with stuff made in Japan.

China, Taiwan, Indonesia , Korea, they should stick to toys.:p

lol very true except the m14 norinco is a decent gun! hey do you have any idea why they would have 5.56x45 on the headstamp when the box says 223 remington? maybe reloads. anyways pretty good deal for 9 bucks a box!

5.56x 45 is the Nato name for 223 rem .as it is a military cartridge by design then later adopted by Remington as a civilian cartridge.
