Weaver bases for R-55 Benchmark

Hi, could someone here please tell what is the right Weaver bases number to use on a T/C R-55 Benchmark, I think it's no. 411 but not really sure

I do believe the 410 is the weaver one piece that fits, not sure about the 411 two piece, You can order the "thompson" base, and its not that expensive, got mine from the shop that sold me the r55,, part number 9951 and cost was 15.95, hope this helps.

Pics on the net seem to suggest the R55 wants the 422 Weaver two piece base. Good luck finding that anywhere though. The 411 is a longer version of the 422 and has offset horizontal grooves compared to the 422.

What shop did you get your Thompson bases from? I just bought an R55 and am also having a hard time finding bases here in Canada.

Battle River Sports Stettler AB, got them for me, not a supporting dealer so might have to google them. Mailed them out the day they got them, they were also able to source plenty of 10 round mags for $30ish each. I imagine any TC dealer could get them for you as they all order from the same supplier.
 
Sorry I can't help with the right base number...had a Benchmark a few years ago for which I used Weaver bases. As I recall, when I checked out the bases supplied by TC, they were simply standard Weaver bases. I did not like the fit of the Weaver base as it did not contour with the top of the action as close as I wanted (it seemed to just sit up on top with the outside of the base not touching)....so I put some release agent on the top of the action, roughed up the bottom of each base, applied a touch of bedding compound to the base, screwed it down (not tight...just firm and in line). I ended up with a perfectly fitting base!!! As I recall, the rifle shot reasonably well (fairly consistent 5 shot groups at 50M of about 0.6"). I would still have the rifle if I could have had the creep taken out of the trigger, but no one in Canada would work on that trigger group. If I had to do it again, I would send take off the trigger group (it is easy, and I did it every time i cleaned the gun)...and send it to a US trigger guy that specializes in TC triggers.
