I just ordered a Savage 16 Weather Warrior with Accustock. I'm finding Weaver's mount chart a bit confusing; do I need a No. 46 and a No. 61 or a pair of No. 46 bases?
Thanks in advance!

I have the same rifle in a long action and found the 2pc bases left me with not enough room to properly mount a scope for the right eye-relief. I went with Millet one piece picatinny base, problem solved with lots of room for adjustment.

The #46 base can be replaced by the #402, which is an extended front base.

Or you can buy Talley lightweight rings and forget about worrying about bases. Just mounted a VX-2 3-9x40 on my model 16fcss identical to KC's by the sounds of it, with them you have options for positioning the rings as they both have different offsets from the mounting point; and are interchangeable back to front, oriented one way or the other so you have several options for positioning the rings where you want them to grab the scope properly where you want it. Not expensive either $65 iirc, no bases to buy, and they look like they belong.

I already had Weaver rings and a Leupold scope lying around so just ordered bases. Actually, Savage's website FAQ's answered my question, so a pair of 46's it is. The bases I already have, now I just have to wait for my nifty new .250-3000 to arrive! Loaded some ammo tonight!

Very cool KC I was intrigued that Savage was chambering for the 250 Savage again, and in an accurate bolt gun platform. I think that's what caught my eye actually and got me looking at model 16s and getting interested in the rifle about a year ago. Then I saw they had one of the biggest menus for calibre choice out there. .. I ended up getting one in 260 rem. Let us know how that 250 shoots! :)

Will do. I hope it's as accurate as either of my .250 Savage 99's. Each of them shot 3-shot groups under a half-inch. Not all the time, but sub-MOA was routine with both.
