Does anyone have any information about the Weaver Grand Slam in a 4.5x14? Kind of curious about these scopes. Any comparisons between this scope and some of the mid priced Burris scopes or Bushnell 4200's of similar magnification.

Weaver was bought out by Meade Corp... they also have Simmons and Redfield in their lineup. They are all made in Japan... warranty work is done in the States... decent lenses and eye relief. The Elites are better value and lenses for the money... Burris has better eye relief... I would buy a Leupold if I was going to spend that kind of money! JBRO.

I can’t help you on the 4.5-14 x 40 mm but I do have the 6-20 x 40 mm and find it an excellent scope for the money. It has excellent optics and the power adjustment is nice and easy to turn compared to other scopes I have like Leupold or Nikon. It also has easy finger control for adjusting cross hairs at the range. The 4.5 -14 has 3” to 3-1/2” of eye relief so keep that in mind if you plan on using it on a rifle with heavy recoil. For some reason the Weaver Grand Slam is not a popular scope but I like mine. Good luck...

I've looked through a 3-10x40 and it was just as nice as a Vari X II and better than a 3200 Elite.

Ugly power ring though :(

The tracking on a Weaver Grand Slam is better than any other scope out there. John Barness really likes them and uses them alot.Built in the same factory as the Japanese Bushnells, but a diferent design. But they are a poor value here in Canada, much cheaper across the line.HINT

If it was just as nice as the Leupold then it couldn't be better than the 3200Elite.

3200's are nothing great, just a decent $250 scope, almost as good as the older Vari X IIs but nowhere as good as a new VXII

the Grand Slam is a decent scope, very underrated and rarely talked about

I have a 3x10x40 grand slam. It is brighter than a comparable 3200 Elite and has the most repeatable adjustments I have ever seen. Japanese quality fully multi coated optics. With Millet rings and bases, the zero never moves unless I want it to, year in and year out. One of the best bangs for your scope buck. Would buy another in a heartbeat.

The 3200 is way, way, better than the old vari-x11 with regards to it's mechanics or it's optics. The new vx-11 maybe, maybe not. The old ones are now called the rifleman or tasco pronghorn, can't remember which;)
