Does anyone know of a site listing production dates for the Weaver K4? I picked up a nice steel "Weaver K4-1 USA" at the Edmonton gun show. It is clear and sharp, with a plex reticle and brass friction adjustment turrets. There is no serial number, nor any "El Paso" markings. Any Weaver experts out there?

I'm surprised at no El Paso markings. I thought all the steel USA Weaver's were made in El Paso.
I have a K6 which I bought in the mid 1970s, plus a K3, which I think was one of their latest El Paso scopes. The K 2.5 and the K 4 must have come out, either at the end of the 1940s, or very early 1950s.
Actually, they are good old scopes. It seems like they have better eye relief and better lateral movement of the eye, than do the variables, especially when the variables are turned to higher magnification.
I'm also using a Bushnell 4x Scopechief, which is very similar to the K4.
