Weaver K4 or Leupold FX II 4X

Is the Leupold worth the extra 200 bucks? How do they compare in terms of durability.

It all depends how hard it is for you to come by the extra $200. I wouldn't think $400 for the Leupold means it's twice as good as the Weaver - the law of diminishing returns says the better a thing gets, the harder it is to make it even better. The Weaver is made in Japan of a one-piece alloy tube with fully-multi-coated optics, which is pretty good for $200. The warranty is good, but Leupold's warranty is the gold standard (and probably no little part of why they cost more.)

I find the eye relief on the Weaver a little short. If you're using it on a rifle with heavy recoil, I'd go with the Leupold.

you should be able to find a lightly used 4x Leupold of recent manufacture for under $300 on the EE. They pop up fairly regularly.
