I'm looking for a weaver style M700 2pc base set with extension front base in order to allow the ring to sit further to the rear w/o obstructing the loading port. Trying to get a Leupold 2.5-8 on a 700 long action but the std weaver bases don't allow enough room between the rings. I have used Weaver #40A but it does sit over the loading port.

Anyone use these? https://www.leupold.com/hunting-shooting/mounting-systems/rifleman-mounting-systems/rifleman-remington-700-2-pc/

Any and all suggestions are appreciated, but I do want to stay with a weaver style system.

So I finally found some Leupold Rifleman bases and like how they worked out. Cost was only $10US ea in Maine. I like how they come to the edge of the loading port w/o overhang. The Burris are very nice as well. The Leupold offers two positions on the front. Burris offers three. The Burris are all steel and very nice bases. I like the Leupold bases for flexibility, less weight and cost. Bought 5 sets.

Added are some other pics for comparison of the std Weaver #35 and extension Weaver #40A

Yup, what you want is the Burris XTB’s.

I currently have a set on my M700 LA and the VXR 2-7 fits good with zero overhang (same mounting length as the 2.5-8).
