Webley cylinder throat vs. bore size?

My Webley WG 1889 has cylinder throats that measure about .4585". The bore that begins at .465" but narrows quickly and where the rifling begins it measures .455".

Does it matter that the cylinder throats are narrower than the beginning of the bore? I haven't shot it yet so I don't know if it's even an issue, just curious and wanting to learn how this thing works...:)

I don't know about the WG but in my webley's it is important to shoot the proper webley style slugs with the long tapered point and the hollow base. The mark VI has no coning at the breach of the barrel and I think that is why the long tapered nose is important. Also the slugs are soft and combined with the hollow base, they would probably expand into your bore.

as long as the cylinder throat size is greater than bore size you're good to go thats how it should be it should funnel tighter

I agree the 'webley' style bullet is probabley best. But keep in mind that the original 'man stopper' load (out lawed) was distinctly not tapered. I have fired a alot of kieths style bullets (.454 and .456) in both early and late mk webleys and they have proved to be a bit more accurate and make a nicer hole in paper.
 
Webley revolvers are built with the forcing cone at the barrel end, of the cylinder, the barrel has no forcing cone. Stay away from copper jacketed bullets as well.

Yes Me to i use .454 Dia and .455 Dia 250 Gr Keith type SWC lead bullets cast not to hard and they are EX.
Accurate and deadly all in one small package cant beat that! ;)

Webley bores are a weird thing indeed most 455 Caliber MKIs and MKIIs ive measured were .452 and chamber throats to Match.
Only in guns that were marked 455/476 did i see the bigger bore Dias.

In my guns the blunt nosed Keith style bullets did not shoot worth a damn and I have assumed it was because the rifling continued square to the end of the barrel
