Hi a friend of mine has a Webley Mark 6 in .455 that he recently aquired along with some other stuff as part of an estate.
This pistol appears to be in remarkably good condition.
it has the mark VI stamped into it and some other british proof marks but there arent any other markings on it??
no patent date or date of Manufacture??
is this normal?
the bluing is realy good on this thing and the barel is bright and shiny.
he is probably going to offer it for sale as well so if anyone has an idea of value?
thanks
Dan.

Could very well be reblued considering how nice the finish is given its age..As mentioned, it would need to be seen in person or via quality pics.
Cheers

Quite often when prepping for the bluing the person polishes the metal with a buffer etc, which is not the way to prep the surface. It does however remove the marking as they are quite shallow compared to the serial number. The finished product may look nice but the missing markings drastically affects the value as does the refinish. Still, they are a nice piece to own and shoot. Look at it in good light at various angles to see if there is any trace of the markings remaining.
Enjoy it anyways

I've mentioned this in previous posts, anyone who's into handguns at some time should own a Webley. Here's a photo of one I acquired a short while ago and some reload info that may come in handy. The bullet circled is very sinilar to the one I get from a friend locally and use in mine.
