I'm posting some photos and info on some hand guns that are in my father's estate that the family hope to sell before the government puts any bans in place. I'll post them one at a time. We're just trying to get an idea of value before they go on the sale sections. I know time is tight, so they'll go up fast. We would appreciate any help you could give us. There are some milsurp and some civilian that I'll post in the pistol and revolvers section. I'm sorry for the poor info and photos. The guns should have been wiped down first but these photos are all I have. I don't have them at my house, but if you have specific questions I'll try to get them answered. Thank you.

I'll edit with the cartridge this is chambered for. I think it is a 38, but I'll confirm that.

If it is a mk6 it should have been a .455 cal, might have been converted to 45acp. Before the current ####show I'd say it was worth between $500 to maybe $1000. Right now I have no idea.
 
The finish looks very worn on your example, if it's got a good bore and is still .455 I would expect between $450 and $600 for it. Higher prices require interesting markings or high condition finish. If it has been converted to .45acp all collector value is gone so $350-$450 for a beat up shooter.
 
You're right. It is a 455. The bore hasn't got any pitting. My brother has them in hand and I'm on the phone with him.

Prices are hard to pin down. The Switzer auction prices were pretty high and gun shops sold out their hand guns fast, but everything is only worth what people will pay for it.
 
I was using my phone before, now that i've got it on a big screen I'd say closer to $500 give or take. What year does it have stamped on it, might make a slight difference to some buyers.
 
Where would the date stamp be? It has the 1918 patent stamp and a 73 under a crown proof mark. My brother is describing it over the phone. It sounds like 1918 is the manufacture date.

Yes, the date on the left side of the frame is the year it was made. Most of the ones I've seen are 1918 but I have seen 1917 as well. I don't recall the start and stop dates for it's production.
