Webley Mk1 Powder load

Hey everyone, looking for a what you all here are using for powder loads for your webley mk1s with shaved cylinders? I am going to be using 255 grain cast lead bullets.

Thats seems hot i maxed out at 4.2grains trailboss using the simar 255grain .455 projectiles. 4 grains trail boss is what i prefered.

Not a bad idea to slug the bore of your webley while you're at it, if you're using flat or bevel base 451 bullets you might get terrible accuracy since the webley was designed with hollow-base minie ball style bullets

You’re right, it is a tad spicy. I have tried 10 rounds from 4.0 grains all the way up to 5.0 grains, 4.8 gave the best accuracy and cleanest burn.
I could scale them back, but I’ll have to burn through the hundreds I’ve already reloaded.

The best bullet I've tried in several webleys is a soft cast Keith style SWC, sized .454" The 2nd best is .454" 265gr HB.

The 45acp has quite a bit more case capacity, I use 4.8 gr Unique in the 45 acp/autorim weblogs than in a .455 mkii cartridge.

The 45acp is almost identical in capacity to the 455 mki case, and is the case length these guns were originally designed for.
