No, I'm not looking to convert a .455 to .45 acp, but I finally got around to taking a MKI I picked up to the range. When I went to load a moon clip, I found she would barely lock up, and the rounds bind against the frame. It looks like when they milled it down for the acp conversion, they didn't take enough off. Could someone mic theirs and see what the cylinder length is for me? This one's coming in at about 1.465".

Thats it i bet. set up to use 45 Colt brass cut down.

Dont measure the Cylinder length measure the space between the recoil sheild and the Back of the cylinder.
a 45 ACP gun is about .090 if its less than that its set up for 45 Colt shortened.
just try a 455 Case like Dez says it will most likely still fire it still, BUT so will 45 Colt cases shortened.
Ive had a few like that.
Its so in the USA where theres piles of 45 Colt cases they can use them.
:My un cut one measures 1.502 give or take a couple thou. that means yours is .037 shorter than mine ! see size does matter
455 Webley rim thickness is .039 for the MKI cartridge and .045 for the MKII cartridge add the amount taken off you cylinder gives a rim thickness of .076 45 colt has a rim thickness of aprox .055-.060 I would think 45 colt brass will work fine in your MKI it shorten it to length.

How much space is too much space? I just measured a LC rim it's .055". It looks like I'd end up with a 35 thou gap if I use a LC rimmed case. Is that too beacoup?
