Webley MkI production years

[Sardaukar]

During what years was the Webley MkI produced? I know they were officially adopted into service in 1887, but when did they stop making them?

It seems no amount of Google will give me the answer. MkIs are just lost in the sea of references for MkIV and VI.

According to Ian Skennerton's '.455 pistol,revolver no.1 mk VI'
Mark 1. Approval date 31st Jan 1890
Mark 1*. " "" 1st Oct 1894
Mark 11. " "" 21st May 1895
Mark 111. " "" 5th Oct 1897

Thanks. I guess they just stopped making MkI revolvers when they started making MkII...

[John Sukey]

That would be the case. Just like cars, no point in continuing to make last year's model.

They still used mkI frames beyond the dates above.
