I have a Glock G34 and was just wondering if a small weight attached to the Picatinny rail is allowed in Standard division?
I couldn't find anything in the rule book.

Yes...as long as the gun still fits in the box. (see appendix D2 point 16)

Please note that Canada has a special exemption and the empty mag does not have to be inserted in the handgun during the box check.

Cheers

You could have a problem with the way the gun cycles.

It has been found that attached lights have caused a problem.

I guess if there is to much flex in the frame and then you stabilize it you would have to change to a different recoil spring?
That's the only thing that makes sense to me:) Thanks for your replies guy's

I went to the range and I have a 4 oz. weight on the rail and I was stove piping every 5th shot so I changed the recoil spring from a 15lb to a 13lb and all was well for the next 200 rounds, then I went back to the 15lb spring and stove piping again. But what a difference in reduction of the snappiness and muzzle flip:D
I'll look into the mag springs, could I just stretch the ones I have or where could I get stronger ones?

Try the Wolff +10% mag springs from Lone Wolf or Glockmeister.

I have a G22
I also went with the 13 lb spring.
I put a heavier tungsten guide rod in.
It seems to help with flip.
I havn't had any cycling problems.
Try the Glockstore.com.
I've ordered just about everything.

Happy New Year

DARKDR...you're reading between the lines

It would be no different then the now defunk monstrosity that SPS came out with (remember the Pelican)

Weight is just weight...you can add it to the magwell, you can add it to the guide rod, and you can add it to the frame...as long as the gun fits in the box

That being said...I'll whip off an email to NROI Canada for the official response

...and now the official response (no surprises)

........................

Adding weights to a pistol in Standard Division is permitted, provided the pistol (with the weight added), will still fit "in-the-box" with the lid on.

How often do you email Nroi?

Just curious.

Umm...when ever there is a clarification required on IPSC Rules. Isn't that better then misinformation (which leads to bad calls at matches)???

FYI...anyone can email NROI Canada...and get back the same response...it's not a closed door society

Clarification?!?! Well where's the fun in that?? Isn't it much better to have all us IPSC lawyers debate the rules and insult each other than to keep Bud busy with responses to our Rule Questions?? what next??? having NROI on-line during Level II or higher matches to clarify rules??

+1 on that.. you would loose half the fun at a match.
