I have an HW 97K with a Bushnell Elite 8-32x40 scope.

I like the way it shoots as I have it now, but I keep reading great things about the V-Mach FAC and Maccari (sp) spring kits.

Has anyone done the conversion? Secondly, are there any Canadian distributors who carry the kits?

I have a HW80K/.22 and after a couple tins of pellets it shoots great as is from the factory. It prefers JSB Jumbo 5.52" dia Crosman has such PI$$ POOR QC these days they shot patterns not groups! Even had .177 mixed in a .22 sealed tin.On the other hand I have a factory harsh RWS34/.22 that I bought a Macarri kit for that I havn/t installed yet .Will replace seal as well.everyone rants about the Jeckle + Hyde transformation so I'm hoping for a miracle.Weihrauchs are light years ahead of RWS in all areas.IMO.I'm primarily a hunter and pest control; guy with my HW80 paper punching never did much for me entertainment wise.Harold *****Jim's kits are all about smoothness not power which happens to go hand in hand with accuracy. He ships to Canada and my kit came to $125 some private tuners may have his kits they will install in Canada but their have also been frauds claiming Macarri kits that were not.

Raye, if you decide to get the Maccari kit, will you post your results? I've been wondering about that myself. I searched on here, and everybody that did the Maccari conversion seems quite happy.

Okay, I got off my ass and took the rifle out of my safe.

Here are grouping shots at a foot or so over 25 yards (indoors). I used JSB Exact Diablos and a dedicated Hawke Air rifle scope: Map Pro 4-16X50

I guess I should be pushing out to 35-40 yards, since I'm getting speeds past 750-800 ft/sec in a .177 (med weight- 8.4 grains. domed tip). I adjusted the Rikord trigger to a very light pull (but leaves a lot of creep).

There's a lot of spring movement in the system. I'm hoping the Maccari internals will smooth things up a bit.

Well it shoots like a Weihrauch and Macarri will only make it even better. He"sets" his replacement springs so they are perfectly square and the guide/tophat are also machined for smoothness.I'll post pics of the RWS34 kit when I get back from bear hunting tonight........................the kid wants a rug........Harold

I have an HW80 and love the way that gun shoots. If it ain't broke why fix it.You can't do much to improve a Weihrauch, so why even try.I would go for the "Maccari" spring kit only when the HW's spring and seal need replacing after about 40-50 years.Mine is 35 years old and still is a Tackdriver. If you still feel the need to imrove your rifle, then take it apart and clean all the old crud and grease fron the piston assembly and relube with "Superlube"[Hi -Tech ]high pressure and high tempurature Silicon lube]It also provides improved velocities and smoothness.

The addition of a tuning kit from the like of V-Mac or Maccari will transform the rifle. I have a HW 35 and an 80 that have been 'Venom' tuned, and they are excellent. Wiehrauch make a quality rifle, but the tuning components are hand finished and thus in a springer make a noticeable improvement.

The main areas are consistancy, you will find shot on shot (after bedding in) that it will be ultra cosistant. This assists the accuracy. There will also be reduced recoil and vibration, which again not only improves the 'feel' but assists with accuracy. The 'lock time' also will be different, which gives an impression that the rifle shoots a bit 'snappier'.

Both of my rifles were stock, and then sent to Venom for the conversion. V-Mech is basically one of the original 'Venom' team and he operates on his own now. I wish I could help on where to obtain a V-Mech kit in Canada. Mine were converted when I lived in the UK. You could try contacting them direct?

You will never recognise the rifle post 'tune', a real upgrade.

There's plans on Pyramid Air to build your own from a large wood working "C" clamp and some boards.Unless you're in the tunning buisness you may only use it once?Harold

after owning weirauch air rifles nearly all my life one thing i have learnt is they all shoot best with H&N field and target trophy pellets..
