1 is a Norc 1911 45. The spring guide is digging into left and right of the barrel.

2 is a SAM 9mm. Gouges in front of the link pin, kinda worries me ( like the guide slammed into ) I know these SAM got very light recoil springs and since than I upgraded.

The norc its not the spring guide making the marks it either fitting marks or the top of the frame where the barrel sits) to me its fitting marks
they removed metal so the barrel will fit into the slide

as a test assemble gun no slide/no spring (note barrel will flop around) but you can see what happens

assemble frame / barrel / slide stop pin and you will see if it is rubbing or fitting marks (barrel only moves a small bit when it goes from lock to unlock position) and your marks are 1 to 1-1/4 inch long

you can do the same with the 9mm and move spring back and forth to see what happens as it hits the barrel

The barrel in that first pic looks pretty bad. First time I see something like that.

Yeah I seen small rub marks, but nothing this serious.

i'm not seeing it. its just how they are machined i think. can you circle what you are talking about?

On the link pin block, just as it starts ramping up from the flat spot on the bottom of the barrel. There is gouges going lower on the right and angling up to the left on both sides ( crescent marks )

I'd call improper fitting on the Norc and a light spring on the SAM (upgraded spring you installed probably cured the problem) just my 2 cents.

SAM I upgraded the spring.

its just cheap machining. nothing to worry about. the spring guide does not even contact these scratches.

the bushing ramp is different.there should be a little flat part that the guide rod rests against but its hard to see there.

There is a flat part but its almost like its kicking up and over it. Noticed my spring guide does not have that tapered edge and whats it doing is lifting up and hitting.

I need the spring guide you got on your 1911.

It's a Wilson combat guide rod. They used to be a cheap fast upgrade but now the dollar has dropped so much im not sure how much it will cost you. I got it from brownells.

Because took off the barrel and I can mimic how it was caused. Its like the back piece is too long. Order a new one for the 9mm and see how well this one does on the 45.

Just replace that guide and pick up a match grade sear spring to make it worth your while.

I got a STI sear spring, 15# mainspring. Trigger great on it.

I just took the guide that was in the 9mm and put it in my 45. I noticed that the 45 was off center and causing it to shift.
