Weird handgun (WWII era). What could it be?

It looks a bit like someone's homemade attempt at a copy of a 1923 Beretta. Have you had it apart? It certainly isn't a commercial make, and it certainly isn't a gun anyone cared very much for. It does have the look of one of the Asian copies, rather than Afghani or Pakistani. It probably works, but the only way I'd try it is by tieing it to a tree with a long string to the trigger.
 
Kinda looks like some sort of Tokarev TT33 variant to me, something that would have been made during in a town accopied by the Germans in the Soviet Union meant for the local "resistance".
