Purchased two foreend for my Lithgrow rebuild.

The best one is made like the newer No4 foreend.

I'm wondering if I should cut the square part of the buttstock bolt.
(If I don't foreend will not fit.)

Thanks
Eric

The stock with the rear band like the No. 4 is a later style. The square end of the stock bolt was ground off to make things easier. Grind the stock bolt.

The Indians introduced that modification in 1932 and it was unique to their production. They also installed a spring washer on the stock bolt, as with the later No. 4 rifle. It's a great improvement, in my opinion, and you shouldn't be at all reluctant to use it. These were "in the system" and could have ended up on an originally British or Aussie manufactured No. 1 during repair.

The stock had a very poor fit with the Lithgrow I have.
-The draws were way ''oversized''
-Stocks wasn'twide enough for the receiver to fit in.
-Nose piece nut insert in the wood needed inletting (wasn't deep enough)
-Trigger was touching the wood. Needed more inletting or the trigger couldn't be pressed all the way.
-Middle band wasn't even close to closing. Needed to remove some wood there.

I also managed to crack the stock... (no idea how) I've inserted two dowels at 45deg angle to close the crack.

It turned out quite good however.

Anyone could help me on the nosecap screw, The one I have ''fit'' with some force, but threading seems wrong and the head is not correct.
Also the front handguard is a real tight fit Under the nosecap. Can I trim the Inside of the nosecap a tiny bit ?

The fit issues you had sound pretty normal for a new stock. New stocks were oversize and had to be trimmed in area's slightly. All the places you said you had trouble sound about right.

For the nosecap, will the screw thread in with the cap off the rifle?

Looks pretty good, hows it shoot? That band almost looks like brass in the pic.

I hope you used some good glue in that crack before installing the stakes.

I've used some carpenter wood glue. Had good luck with this in the past.

The fit issues you had sound pretty normal for a new stock. New stocks were oversize and had to be trimmed in area's slightly. All the places you said you had trouble sound about right.

It's brass. Buttplate is too.
Will take some nicer picture outdoor tomorrow.

To be honest the screws (ordered two) don't fit. I've tried the screws on an older nosecap and it screwed in but buggered the screw threads just a little bit.
