seen this in another forum, i havent seen this kind of a mag catch before and the ad lacked details.

I've never seen one like that! I checked my SKS "D" and there is no factory mounting for another magazine to be attached. Interesting!

It looks like there's a regular fixed-mag catch still in place, too.

i think you are right and the gizmo is suppose to change the direction of the mag catch from "pulling back" to "pushing forward" for quick release of the duck bill. for tactical ? if so then very interesting idea .

its weird that some would mod a rifle and not disclose info when selling .

I think you are right Curtton, looks like the lower tab rotates on a pin or bolt, pulling the factory catch back, more like an AK. so heres the real question: aftermarket or homemade?

I'd say definitely a homemade project. Looks like a laminated russian, removing the SKS-D option. Perhaps some kind of AK magwell mod.

Wouldnt be sure about the spare mag compartment, looks more like its the cleanest way he found to mod the mag release into ak style.

edit: The more I look at it, the cheap chu wood stock looks chinese as hell, but the top handguard looks darker like some laminate russians.

its a chinese military sks. look at the forearm, see how its flat on the bottom, and the brass pin is under the finger groove. it has a spike bayo cut. probably just a duckbill mag, the darker handguard is normal, mine has several shades across it. I too am thinking home job now, its such a simple little piece to make

those of you who thought it was a chinese stock are correct cos the stock is for a spike bayo.

and i wouldnt think its a AK conversion cos if he can make this gizmo then he could have made a proper AK mag catch which by the way would be located closer to the mag.
