You do realize wounded or not it is illegal to shoot waterfowl with a rifle or shotgun with a single projectile?!

Was fully aware of it at the time ...didnt mater then nor would it now, some laws are not thought out to be best under some circumstances. Some parts of the AB regs state that "all reasonable methods of rertrieval of wounded game should be used ...and then handycap the hunter.

Those laws were put in place for safety reasons not to handicap hunters. It's to prevent injury to others and possibly yourself from bullets ricocheting off water or carrying over longer distances. Many waterfowl areas have high volumes of hunters in a relatively confined space and rifles do not enter into that equation well. Much the same as controlled deer hunts in heavily populated areas. All reasonable methods means getting out there and dispatching and retrieving by legal methods described in the regulations not shooting them by illegal methods.
