Exactly. Oh wait... half those Marstar bashers spend their luch breaks rubbing shoulders with the folks at Wolverine and Lever...  Gotta make sure lots of potential clients don't already have a VZ58S before the long-delayed shipment of 858-2's gets here....

Who was expecting something different?

I don't see anyone here who was hoping Wolverine's guns would be anything less than recycled milsurps like the Marstar shipment.

Actually, come to think of it, some people here keep waiting for people to be deflated after their Wolverine purchase like many of those who purchased Marstar's version.

If my rifle arrives with a light coating of rust, then you nay sayers win. Otherwise, as a 'fan' of both marstar and wolverine I can't see how this 'trolling' is productive in any way.

Did you see it as "productive" when Marstar was getting beaten down last year?

And for the record, I've now personally seen over 12 Marstar VZ58's and non of them had rust on or in them aside from some rusted metal shavings embedded in the cosmolene in the receiver.

One guy from *gasp* Manitoba even claimed his VZ58S had rust in the bore. That's very interesting considering all the 58S guns have chrome lined tubes and can't rust...

FWIW, I think it's important to point out that the 858-2 is the same product being sold with the same ad copy as the VZ58S, yet all the naytsayers remain strangely quiet about how the 858-2 advertising is just as misleading as the VZ58S advertising supposedly was.

Says alot about where many of the unstisfied customer comments really come from IMHO.

Checked my Visa statement today and it has been billed. Won't be long now I hope. One bad thing about NF, takes so long for Mail from westers Canada to get here.

In all fairness, the ad copy posted on the Wolverine site seems extremely fair and honest to me, not that I ever really had too much of an issue with the Marstar ad copy.

Yes, their web ad seems fair. However, their website is accessed mostly by people on CGN. Non-internet savvy consumers get to read this:

No, I stood up for Marstar then like I stand up for Wolverine now.

People then were acting like morons, especially considering Marstar's guarantee and their willingness to work with customers who aren't satisfied.

Just because people were acting like retards before doesn't justify the current rash of trolling.

In spite of all the bashing,i'm sure the 858 will be as neat to fire as the VZ58.Not sure what all the fuss is about.

I think it all comes down to "my toy is better than your toy".

The last time I played this game, I was playing in a sandbox with another four year-old named Tony. Mind you... my toy WAS better, as far as I can recall. 8)

Everyone was #####ing and complaining that I was #####ing and complaining.

So...

F*%k you. Buy used guns for new. I seriously dont give a flying Sh*t anymore about all this VZ crap. Everyone was saying how great Marstar was for selling the guns even if they where lying, so obviously Canadian gun owners are suckers for punishment.

I'm not saying a VZ58S is better than a CZ858-2. Each had trade-offs. What I AM saying is call a spade a spade, don't lie in your ads, especially if you trashed your competitors for doing the same ad copy.

Sorta like people in glass houses throwing stones...

FWIW, I didn't blame you for being upset back then given your expectations of a new rifle. And I bought my VZ knowing it was used after reading all the reviews I still wanted it. As a non-grandfathered individual, this is as close as I'll ever get to a somewhat modern chicom battle rifle.

That being said, ALOT of people will see that ad in Access, order their CZ858 and feel exactly like you did last year ;) history repeats itself I guess...

Anyways, I'm done here...

Getting back on topic, CZ52 & Norcy -I'm very interested in seeing photos of the inside of the receiver, the trigger group internals, etc. I'd like to see how the mods were done to make it SA-only. Just curious how this will compare to the VZ58s in terms of implementation and workmanship. Probably exactly the same, but I'd still be interested in photos.

I'm also interested in the wagwell area, as seen from underneath. I had to slightly reshape the "corners" of the forward lugs to get mine to feed reliably, and I'd like to see what these spots look like in the '858.

Thanks.

anyone make any progress in sourcing an optics mount?
Just got off the phone with Ryan at Wolverine. Should have my 858 by mid next week.

What I need is a few of you people on the notify list to reply to Wolverine you aren't going to be taking shipment this round so that I can move up the list and get one

I had a chance to handle one of these new rifles today. They did a great job .
I have a number of the marstar guns ,they also are good units.I have never had one moment of frustration with any of them .
They are very accurate for what they are. This being said, I would hope that the new rifles are of the same origin as the Marstar guns.
Good price and the ability to own a rifle that in the past was only a dream for most Canadian firearm owners. How can that not be a win win situation.
