I may be picking up where DaveGP left off as far as stocks are concerned..... I have literally piles of usgi stocks on the wayall my trips to reno last spring are starting to pay off

Thanks for the comments. What I really had pictured in my head was a QD swivel like one of these. All you'd need to do is imbed the mount in the stock. Of course, I'm cheap and had to rummage in 10x's parts box for a 60 (or more) year old Turkish swivel.
