Welfare sub-moa

i did something similar with my savage stock. i bedded it and stiffened up the foreend, filled in all the checkering with fibreglass, bedlinered it, and dusted it with some flat black krylon.

The biggest improvement that can be made to a weatherby is bedding the inletting in those stocks is horrible! oh and the trigger get a timney so much nicer.

nice guns, I almost bought that Boyd's but decided against. How do y'all like the Timney trigger? Is it possible to get a two stage from anywhere?

I like the Timney better than the Rifle Basix, which are the only 2 options I'm aware of.
If the original plastic stock was longer, I may have left it alone, but it isn't so I didn't. A little extra weight was welcomed on the .300 Weatherby.
I'll probably get another of these for my boy, since the stock is exactly the same as his Mark V synthetic and the price is right in the welfare range. I'm seeing a lot of potential for donor actions as well.
The stock on my boy's Mark V Synthetic was stiffened by Jim Dugan. He cut 2 thick pieces of aluminum to fit the hollows in the stock, bedded those in with Devcon and drilled and tapped the front block for a second swivel stud.

I have a Vanguard in 300 WSM. It was not a sub-moa model, but it shoots sub-moa anyway!! It came with the plastic stock, and I managed to trade with another gunnut for his Brown laminate stock from another Vanguard. Perked up the looks and feel considerably. I installed a Timney trigger, and Voila! a good shooting & pretty rifle that made some moose mighty dead last fall. Regards, Eagleye.

Did you buy the stuff and 'bedliner' it yourself or did you take it in somewhere? What an improvement! That thing looks slick!
What is the feel like? It looks fairly smooth, but I know that bedliner is rough. Is the smooth finish an option?

Did it all myself, wasn't bad at all. I actually aplied a full coat of Krylon, then a full coat of bedliner, then more coats of krylon, then stood back with the bedliner and just dusted over it, covered with a krylon satin clear. The finish isn't too rough, the bedliner kinda smoothed out a bit, and the clear smoothed it more.
