well i just finished up loading up 25-30 44 mag shells ..9.0-9.3 grains of titegroup cci300 primers oal is 1.609-1.612 they will be used in a puma lever action..i will be posting a pic on here later with the crimp to make sure its enough...i had a couple shells near the end when i adjusted the crimp some started to fold down ward and looked almost like a acordian(not the full way just 3 ridges) will be posting pics of thise aswell...shouldent have any issue firein off the others i hope
 
It is very easy to overcrimp.
Assuming your bullets have a cannelure or crimp groove, your crimp should just force the case mouth to the bottom of the groove.
Neck tension will do most of the actual holding of the bullet, the crimp acts more like a barb to prevent bullet set-back.
In general, the less crimp you can get away with, the better.

Did you start with cases that were all trimmed to the same length?
