What can you guys tell me about this round. I just bought some of these today and the information I can gather is the following:

1. Yup, its corrosive (bulk surplus)
2. It Czech (headstamp is aym 69)
3. They are steel shell

Questions:

1. What is the grey coating?
2. Are the projectiles steel core as well?
3. What make are the ones with the Copper Jacket? ( Sellier and Bellot )
4. Weight (grs)?
4. Thoughts/Range reports on these?
 
grey coating is an anti-corrosion.
standard bullet weight for surplus 7.62x39mm is 123gr, I will assume the same, unless someone has pulled one and weighed it, then I will politely accept the correction.
that's all I got.
 
Lots of S&B is berdan primed (russian calibres anyways). Projectiles are most likely a soft steel core, easy test, get a magnet.

If from an SKS, they punch paper nicely, destroy mild steel plate with the best of them and have MOB accuracy (Minute of Barn). J.K. on the accuracy... As with all, depends on the firearm.

I'll be shooting them through a VZ-58, hopefully in the near future.
 
Be careful if is is steel core, it is hard on backstops and you will not make any friends at the range.

Here in Calgary at TSE a while back they were checking ammo with a magnet cause of damage to backstops.

If on private land or earthen berm backstop its not a concern.
