Well, I bought my first handgun today. The wait is on.

I have a tanfoglio model L in 45acp and if I didn't know better I could easily mistake it for that CZ. it's almost a duplicate. great gun by the way.

Your new baby looks great, brings back memories of mine. Just a tip, if you pick up more mags buy Tanfoglio mags rather than the CZ mags. They are much easier to disassemble and reassemble for cleaning and they seem to feed better.

Thanks for the tip! Are they cheaper as well? where is the best place to buy them? Is there a specific model number?

Great pic and congrats on the pistol! Hard to go wrong with a shadow. I have been eyeing up the slim aluminum grips for mine but the spending needs to get reined in a bit!

I hear ya on the spending. I shouldn't have even bought then gun, let alone the grips haha.

Welcome to the CZ club. Finally found a SP-01 Shadow in a local shop and snapped it up. It shots better than my Sig P226. I ordered the 11 and 13 pound springs and steel guild rod. You'll notice a slight difference with the 13 pound spring, saving the 11 pound spring for my black badge course this fall. also picked up spare mags, and as luck had it CZ Mags fit in my IWI Jerrico. Nothing like loading 9 mags and pumping rounds downrange.

No model number just make sure that they are 9mm mags. Pricing should be the same as CZ (~$45 each). Freedom Ventures carries these mags and so does Rouge River Arms.

I just got a shadow as well and really like it. I got the 11 and 13 pound recoil springs. What is the weight of the original recoil spring? I have been using the 11 pounder, but after reading the posts here it sounds like the 13 pounder is the best for durability for sellier and bellot ammo.

Thanks

Norm

I think the factory recoil spring is 15-17 lbs. I read a post that quoted Angus Hobdell, of CZCustomShop, saying they weren't sure of the exact number.

"Quote
Simple answer is we don't really know!
No one at factory will give specific answer and there is no real definitive way to measure spring weight.
So most answer to this question are not Definitive.

Most people replace spring so they 'actually" know what is in their guns.
We used 11 lb recoil for light ammo in production guns, some go as low as 10 lb.

We believe most factory guns are at about 16/ 17 lbs in 9mm
Sp01 with Flat coil are more like 18lbs.

40's are heavier maybe 20lbs."

This is just a post on a random forum on the net though. I'm going to order a 13, just to try it out.
