well i figure its about time i got me self one of them there evil black guns. but the problem is which one.

now it has to be non-restricted, wanna make sure i can varmint hunt with it.

now i been looking at the following as an Xmas gift to myself *thats when i will have the $$ needed .

HK SL8 short rail black stock.
armalite ar 180b
CZ 858

what do you guys think

now i plan on buying new just cause well i like new guns, and it to me shows the CFC that there is another NEW gun imported and not just changeing hands in country.

If money is no object, get the HK, otherwise, the 180B. The CZ just ain't accurate enough for Varmitting.

EDIT: Tavor - while that Tavor is a decent rifle, easy pointer etc. (yes, I've tried it) in its current iteration, you can't put optics on it, that may not be so good for gophers.

I thought CanadaAmmo was offering a Picatinny rail that you could fit in lieu of the current red dot for the Tavor.

Of course, you could always get yourself an M305 and turn it into a black rifle with a SAGE EBR stock (or Marstar's version of it) and a gunsmith to chop it to an 18.5" barrel.

well this will be bought at xmas time at which point i will have enough $$ to buy a decked out timberwolf if i wanted, so the price tag isnt really relevent.

the key point is how evil/scary it looks, and how accurate it is. with the tavor if optic options are available ie: can mount a decent cope for varminting on it instead of the factory system. then it would defintly be my #1 choice followed by the HK

Tavor is an uber cool rifle. I understand that the next "batch" is going to have the ability to mount your own optics. That will make it something really worthy of having in the closet.. :pirate: arrrghhh.

It's certainly a neat rifle to operate and feels good in every firing position that I tried it in.

If I have the coin, I'll be grabbing one myself.....

Sign guy,
A few of us on this thread have been researching the same thing.
If you do a search on the PE90 on this board you'll find how I came to my conclusion.

The Swiss Arms / SIG PE-90 pictures don't do it justice.
Handlle one at a store, and be sure to check out all of the features including the build quality. Note the take down pins, winter trigger guard swings out, folding stock, and built in bipod.

It's expensive but you do get a lot for that money. On a side note the Americans currently can only buy the preban ones already in the United States. They're going for 6-10K since they aren't able to import them.

Let us know what you decide to buy, and why :)

not exactly the 'end'....I sold my PE90 for a 180b due to the RRA mag development. The PE90 is at least $2600 used with little to no goodies. $1400 will buy you a NIB 180b ,quad for rail, scope mount, (or at least a used in excellent condition, low rds) Another couple hundo and you have the AR stock configuation on your choice.

To me it was all about the weight and mag capacity...just my $.02

BTW, I just sold my minty 1/2 mod'ed 180B to a lucky SOB in Alberta for a killer deal! I needed another dirtbike. lol...

...black rifle choices...

...since you mentioned the word "varmint(s)", you have now limited your choice to only one ....Swiss Arms PE90.......
