Well I found one on the EE for a reasonable price so I purchased it........a 325 WSM in a mod 70 fthrwt. So now I've gone from no 8mms to 3 in a matter of a month or so. I bought 2 from the EE a month ago Husqvarnas 8X57s, I'm going to leave one stock and I'm going to do an 8X68 Imp on the other. Now I have a 325 WSM to play with also. I just ordered and received a bunch of 8mm stuff from Tradex, but they back ordered the dies I need desperately.....8X57. Anyone got a set they would like to part with, RCBS or Redding? Anyway I now must wait with bated breath until the new sweet heart is in hand. I love the design and execution of the mod 70 featherweight, I bought one in a 257 Bob when they first came out in the 80s, but that SOB would not shoot...........3-4" was the norm but it would shoot factory 117 gn RN into 1.25"..........after several months and many dollars and much effort I gave up. Still loved the aesthetics though, and bought a 300 WM when the came out with the magnum 24" version.....It didn't shoot much better, but I finally found a 200 gn load that would keep an inch, so I was very happy with that one. Never hunted it and I don't remember what happened to it..........it's gone!

I'm going to have to have another Schutzenfest, I am buying guns faster than I can work up loads for them..................:D

Pics will follow when rifle is in hand...........JJohn, I won't use the zebra print backdrop, OK.........;)

You should be able to find a set at our show coming up this weekend.
I'll make a call tomorrow and see if Curley has a set and he could bring them up?
If you strike out all around, I'll lend you my dusty RCBS till you find a set.

Keep us updated. I have always been interested in this round, (I always liked unpopular rounds for some reason) Now I can see what someone who has a clue can do with this round.

Time for an 8mm Ruger wildcat. Wouldn't that be a Yukon rifle par excellence?

Not really BUM, but I am doing the 8X68 imp which is identical case capacity to the Ruger, with much easier to find, quality brass......LOL

I see the east is starting to transform you.......French words in the last 3 posts.......I knew they'd get you, you're assimilating !!

It's what we call FIFO...Fit In or F--k Off!

Congrats on the 8mm short a really good cartridge seems to be getting more popular lately out this way.

I'll be interested to see how this one works out for you as well. I've got a 98 Husqvarna in 8mm as well that I was going to sell but am thinking about doing something interesting with it now. A simple rechamber has come to mind more than once and the 8x68 one of my thought bubbles. Brass appears on the rare side tho

You can also go 8X300 WM for the same ballistics and endless cheap brass, again just a chambering job and maybe some rail opening. I know I'll get flamed for this but I know for a fact that the 8mm-300WM will equal the 8mm Rem mag, just something about that 300 WM case that is magic.........

It's not the case, it's the coal shovel you use to stuff powder into it!

I am quite sure I have a set of 8 x 57 dies that I can donate.

I also have some .325 WSM data I will look up.

Please remind me by way of a note. Thanks.

Doug

The analogy that comes to mind is importing a Volvo and sticking a Hemi in it LOL. I like the idea...

B.U.M. - pass the grain shovel
