Well, I guess I bought an EAL!

CaribouHunter, I wonder if you could show us some pictures of your rifle. Particularly the dovetailed rear sight and the rear receiver area where the 200/400 would normally be.

There may well be EALs out there with legitimate dovetailed buckhorn sights. But every one that I have seen has either had a sight elevator that was much too high or the sight was mounted too far back to be factory done.

The rear sight ears were also removed in a fashion that was less than what I would expect from EAL or Canadian Arsenals.

I did see one EAL rifle that had barrel mounted Buckhorn on a Williams base that looked professional, but the rear sight ear removal was even worse than most.

There has been lots of good info on EAL rifles since Warren did his write up a few years ago.

I've seen too many of the Buckhorn sighted EAL's for it to be an accident. The gent above's rifle was very similar to mine.

And it was sighted right on, hit perfectly at 100 yards.

Yes, the grinding where the original sight was removed was very Mickey Mouse indeed and I do understand your point.

Think this is the pic of the PM with the Rangers. It is a sporterized No 4.

My Favorite PM of all time . what a loss due to the fools that wanted legal weed and were told they would get a free education . Sheep . as I said what a loss .

A few years back,,,,OK,OK,,,, more than a few years back,,,, we where visiting CFSEME at CFB Borden.

The lockup had more than a few EAL's in the racks.

Some for repairs - belonging to Rangers, others where just sitting, collecting dust in the system.

One was even scavenged very badly for parts!

They all had barrel mounted flip sights, including some with scopes and the odd one with a rear side-mount sight - just like mine.

BTW, I lost the barrel flip sight on mine, if anyone has one to sell or knows where I can buy one. ;)

A few of the EAL's looked like they where driven real hard and put away wet as the saying goes!!!

At the time, parts where still in the system, but some of the parts had to be commercially sourced.

Some of the parts they had on hand, they had plenty of, I remember, like the different sights.

I wish my buddy was still with us, he could have answered questions in great detail. :(

I thought I had a pic of the EAL's that where in for repairs,,,,,,,,, still looking!!!!
