Well, I Joined The Dark Side *56K Death*

I have edited my OP with more and better pics. This rifle is a '53 and has the refurb <> marks on the receiver cover. As can now be seen in the pics, all the numbers match, including the stock. Good to know that the electro pencil on the gas tube is original. There was no marking on the gas piston rod that I noticed while I was cleaning out the cosmoline. The rifle is in fantastic shape both inside and out and looks like it wasn't used after refurb.

I can't wait to get it out to the range once the weather lets up here. Should be the last weekend in January, because I have a hockey tournament to be at next weekend. Hopefully, my front sight isn't too far out and I won't need to buy a sight tool for one round of adjusting.

You have a very nice rifle there. I'm jealous. I just wanted to throw something out there. Usually as issued/original parts are electro pencilled with the FULL serial number. These are typically located on the butt plate of the stock, extractor on the bolt, operating rod, gas tube on the under side and the under the rear sight. And the laminate is not original to the rifle but yours is the only rifle it has been on. It is a replacement stock for your rifle and stamped to match. Again, originals for sure, always had full serial number on the stock. A very nice rifle and clean. Glad to see laminate top and bottom. most are bottom's only.

Nice rifle! Why would they electropencil a new rifle's gas tube and how can one verify that a rifle was never issued?

Here's somes pics of my 1953 Tula, i greased her all so that's why may have things stick on:p The rifle dont have refurb marking and all numbers matchs, not single touch of paint on. The rifle came from IZH shipment of 2008, was advertised unissued and i think its true.
