Well it was opening day yesterday up north

Not good where I was in 7-35. Apparently too much snow killed a lot of moose. We hunted in a familiar area that normally is infested with moose. This year there was a lot of hunters, but very, very few moose.
It was still a good trip and I'm sure the moose will be back, but I guess a hard year for moose means a hard year for hunters.

I guess we will have to wait for the results from other hunters. I wounder if the hot weather mentioned in a earlier thread maybe another reason for low moose numbers. We open our camp in Northern Ontario every May/June and always counted around 15 to 25 moose. This past winter was milder with a lot less snow and this year we only saw 3 moose opening camp?.

Well, some LM guys have returned with meat from the North. :D

:D Ken, that's not me in the pic. He's my friend. I missed this trip because of my schedule. Both bulls were shot last Saturday morning out of a herd of three bulls. The 3rd was smart enough to run off before they were able to take a shot at it. So all three guys worked on the bulls for 11 hours straight. One guy was holding a loaded gun standing by as they could hear grizzlies hoofing round them.

That's a 300 win mag. Well, if they had used SKS and could have put the bulls down clean I have no problem with that. It's legal. :evil:However 300 WIN MAG did make a whole lot difference.

If I had gone with them, I'd have asked for your address Bartell. Maybe I could have used your house for the butchering. Of course you'll get some premium meat.

for sure, I got a shop with a refrigeration plant inside, and a big table. Only room for four people inside, so you'd have to stand outside

we have ### on it.

:puke:Even though I was wondering if that was what the table for, I still feel a little twitchy with your confirmation. Oh well, I guess the table is big enough for me to butcher something bigger than a dog while you and bartell roll on the other side?:evil:

How was the shot placement? The exit hole on the 2nd and 3rd photo looks awful close to the guts.
