Well it's time for me to join the AR15 club. Seeking input.

Thought I'd ask the experts. For price point of looking around 1000 to 1500. Caliber is consideration as well due to the fact that I've amassed over 15,000 rounds of 7.62x39. What say you.

I was also going to comment that 7.62x39 isn't really the AR15's "thing". I'd probably look at an XCR-L (ack, gasp, sputter!) before an AR15...

I have a PSA 10" in 762x39 and it is awesome. It makes huge fireballs. I use the lar mags and it works well. Be careful ARs are very addictive.

I own a NEA 7.62×39 with a 7.5" barrel. It's a blast too shoot.

why not just buy agun that was designed from the ground up to shoot 762x39?
like a cz858

then once you have burned through your 15000 rounds of 762x39

buy a gun that was designed from the gound up to shoot 556
like an ar15

when you try to make something it was never meant to be you get in a lot of trouble, trouble like a vz58 in 556 and an ar15 in 762x39

I guess I should have added that I have two SKS's, CZ858 and two months ago I bought an XCR in 7.63x39. I like the 7.62 because it's cheap hence the curiousity about an AR in 7.62.

I have a Windham in x39. 2500rds and all is good. Love it. I would buy it again.
They also have a lifetime warranty and customer service reportedly is excellent.

If you're budget is around 1000-1500 I'd recommend picking up one of those S&W 700 dollar AR's, a quality optic like an aimpoint and a couple thousand rounds of ammo.

I have for the last 3 yrs a very good experience with WW15 in 7.62x39 16" chromed bbl ... personally I'll always recommend it, NEVER had a problem with this AR15 rifle ....
At the beginning had some ammo related FTF because Czech and Romanian surplus ammo has a harder primer, but a stronger hammer spring fixed this flaw!

I have a Wyndham x39 AR. It runs great with XCR pistol mags and a heavier hammer spring for that nasty surplus ammo. We'll worth a look!!

Initially I had some issues with light primer strikes on my WW x39. It turned out my rifle had the 5.56mm firing pin.
I called WW and they immediately sent a me a x39 pin right to my Canadian door. Great customer service! Runs 100% since the new firing pin.

Here is the firing pin and how it differs from the 5.56mm, click on WW website image and you'll see the identification ring:
It is identified by the ring machined into the head of the pin, and is slightly longer than a standard AR pin for better 7.62 primer detonation.
