Patience is now your friend. It takes its time but shouldn't be too bad if you keep tabs on it and your references. Patience and congratulations, start browsing for your first gun :) any ideas yet?

Edit: If you plan on getting a restricted you may want to start the paperwork to join a range, it may speed things along when you go to buy one.

James is right, look at ranges and memberships now. Some ranges are at capacity and are not accepting new members. If you're sticking to NR for now, there's a bunch of sponsors at the top of your screen who'd love to help you out :)

You might want to join a range now. Most places if you join now will carry your membership through 2013 but check to make sure. Some ranges aren't taking new members an for some you have to go to a club general meeting and be approved by the club and then attend an orientation session before you can join. Then you will probably have to wait for your membership card. You need to have a current membership to apply for an LTATT. You want to apply for that as soon as your licence comes.

They received mine October 1st and not yet in the system. Hopefully I get my RPAL by Christmas time from Santa. I've already put a down payment on a gun and can't wait to get a membership!

If you know your going restricted for your first or near future look into joining a range asap. I can't speak for all ranges but my local allows members that do not have a pal (r-pal) so anyone can join anytime.
Having your range membership *may* allow for things to be smoother when buying your restricted and taking ownership ( http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/foru...mbership-yet-can-anyone-help-with-my-purchase I'm in Alberta, that may matter)
Likely if your buying a restricted you do plan on shooting it, might as well use your wait time to inquire at ranges for what they require and when renewals take effect.

Worst case you can still pick out your gun at whatever shop, put a down payment on it/pay it off, you just can't take it until all your paperwork is in order

After dealing (not dealing? ) with Wholesale sports, I went to P&D chose and paid for my gun in full and waited for all my paperwork to be completed before taking the gun home.

They finished processing the initial phase, still no news

They got my letter on 2012/06/27. What number can I call to move things along ? I also heard of a phone interview ? They didn't mention that in my registration / at the police station.

If you are applying for RPAL, you and your references will get a call. If it is just for the PAL, chances are, you won't get a call.

Read the first post sticky on Shorted PAL Approval Time at the top of the Newbie FAQ section, the number is in there.
