It wasn't there yesterday, or any time for the last 2 months that I've had the scope for that matter. There is nothing on the outside of the lenses, it must be on the same plane as the reticle considering the size change.

Nightforce.

Not bashing, just sharing.

Although I am disappointed that this may cause a delay in trying out my new rifle.

Most likely debris inside the tube that was stuck to the internals then let go. I had a SB that had a small bit of something inside it from factory. Every other shot it would pop into view. Annoying as hell, but covered by warranty. I suspect NF will not give you any grief fixing it, but it still sucks that it has to go home to be fixed.

It certainly does look like an insect leg, you definetly have a bug in the scope. I doubt you will any problem getting it fixed under warranty. Also if you shoot the rifle a few times it may dislodge it from the lens.

I thought about just trying to shake it loose, and it may work for a while or it may be the last I ever see of that piece. But I'm thinking I should just send away and get it over with now, because I'll be more annoyed if it comes back later, possibly in a worse spot.

Getting the ball rolling on the warranty with the vendor, sounds like it should be pretty simple and straight forward. The hardest part is the waiting game, as it is with most things.

When you zoom in on the object it really looks like an insect leg ... strange stuff. Warranty will take care of it for you at least

The 2 vortex razor HD scopes I owned, as well as the vortex vulture 15x binos I own all added their own reticle by way of chit in the scope breaking loose and sticking to the lenses. I will never buy another vortex product because of this, and how they handled it. I buy Tangent Theta and Schmidt and Bender now and don't worry about it. I recently gave burris a chance with the XTR2 5-25. It has horrible glass, but no floaters. I'll probably sell it and go with another S&B.
