I posted this in the photo section and someone told me to post it here, so I did.
Any info you can give me on the gun would be appreciated. (I'm an AR guy so this surplus stuff is mostly new to me.)
I met my dad for lunch today at Earl's in the West Hill mall in Calgary. As we were leaving he told me to pull my car around to his car because he had something for me.
He opens the trunk and there was his prized Lee Enfield, with the bayonet and scabbard as well!! We got a funny look as one person saw me move it from his trunk to mine. LOL.
I always wanted this gun growing up. It used to hang on the wall of our house and I worshipped it as a kid.
It's stamped No5MKIROF(F) 12/45, which I recently found out means:
Lee Enfield no 5MkI
ROF is short for Royal Ordinance Factory
(F) means Fazakerley
12 = Dec
45 = 1945 year of manuf, so your rifle was made on Dec 1945
Thank you Pblatzz for your help with the ID. I think they also call her a jungle carbine?
Here she is:
I gave her a "day at the spa" for guns. She is clean as a wistle now. The rifling is bright and looks sharp. I can not wait to shoot her again. It's been about 25 years since I pulled the trigger and fired a round through her.
