Went shopping yesterday

Well i already paid the deposit, so that leaves around 425$ to go. Money is tight but i'll make it.

Like i said, i wish to prepare myself fully BEFORE i actually get my hands on the rifle.

I've heard so many stories here about peope replacing almost every part of the rifle and honestly i just want it to WORK for deer hunting this fall. Further down the road, then ill throw down money for "sprucing it up".

If I had to suggest only one upgrade it would be a $40.00 op rod spring guide. You should get more consistent groups for hunting. Use plastic tipped bullets, led will work too but you might get deformed tips...

Right i heard about this. It's because the default spring thats all wobbly and not stiff enough right?

Swung by the store coming back from work and it's paid in full!

I am now the proud owner of an M305 :D

I think i'll call her Mathilda.

Now, how do i get rid of all this oil... it's dripping!

Ok first problem:

I am unable to take out the trigger assembly. I can pivot the trigger guard, but it is not dropping out.

Second problem: the front sight is nowhere near the center. Its all the way to the left.
How do i recenter it? There is no screw, just a hole!

You may have to work your trigger assembly as they can be quite hard to remove the first time.

It looks like your barrel isn't indexed properly and the front sight was shifted to the left to keep the rear sight somewhat centered. My understanding is improperly indexed barrels are quite common with the shorties for some reason. There is quite a bit of info on barrel indexing in some of the stickied threads above.

If the front sight is over to the left, it will likely mean that your barrel is under-indexed (under-tightened). This is relatively easy to fix and perhaps a better problem than being over-indexed.

If you can connect with Hungry/TacticalTeacher he can help you through the process of correcting this. There are a number of threads which will help you do this yourself if that's your preference. All you need is a good vice and vice-block to hold the barrel, a big wrench that can fit your receiver, and some thin straight edges to clamp to the receiver and sight base to check alignment.

The only caution I'd offer is that your barrel might be under-indexed so that your headspace could meet minimum specs. If so, tightening the barrel might reduce your headspace beyond the safe minimum causing the bolt to not lock with some ammo. While this is unlikely, it's best to have your headspace checked. Hungry will do this for you if you send him some once fired brass (fired with gas lock off).

P.s. the front sight is adjusted by backing out the locking Allen screw (yours might be missing) and tapping it left or right with a punch and a mallet.

"...need a new one more then(SIC) ever..." What for? You've spent all your money.
An 18.5" .308 will be very loud and have lots of muzzle blast. Buy some new ear defenders. Then work up a load or try a box of as many brands of 165 grain hunting bullets as you can. A 165 will kill any game you care to hunt.
"...build a 1000 yard gun..." Those aren't hunting rifles. They're match grade target rifles.

When you say its underindexed, you mean what, it's not screwed-in enough into the receiver?
But as far as i can tell, the front sight is level with the rest, it's not tilted.
It's was just moved to the left-most position... You can see it in the 2nd and 3rd picture.

I get the feelling that if it wasn't screwed in enough or too much, that "plane" on top where the front sight is would be tilted.

Yeah, under indexed means not screwed-in enough. You can check for indexing by clamping a long straight edge across the bottom of the front sight base and one across the back of the receiver, behind and under the rear sight mount...where it is flat. If your indexing is only slightly off, or is just mounted off-centre it's no biggie as long as you can zero your sight.

Oh...and welcome to the club and hope you enjoy the rifle. Luv mine.

Ok first problem is semi-solved. I managed to take out the trigger group by prying it with a flat head screw driver.

I think the stock is compressing the metal internals, making it much tighter then it needs to be.

Armorer friend told me to take a dremel and takes out a lil bit of stock around it to make it less tight.

Second problem is still a mistery.
