It obviously makes no sense for the M1 Garand to still be legal while a 5 round .223 is now prohib, is it only a matter of time until they slap a ban on it? Not to mention the SKS...

The OIC was put in place to ban “military grade assault rifles”.... this entire hobby is in collecting REAL military firearms, many of which have been used AS ASSAULT rifles in the past.

Basically, I’m paranoid that I just spent $2k on an M1 and our almighty leader is going to wake up one day and decide I can’t own it anymore.

Your thoughts?

This fear is one of the main reasons I have held back on owning a M1 carbine, I see it as only a matter of time till it’s a paper weight

Live your life, enjoy the rifle, shoot and have fun!

Just about every milsurp out there was made "to kill the most amount of people in the least amount of time" as they say. Even the bolt actions and black powder muskets.

They want them all banned.

I'm still buying what semi-auto's I can, I'm active in politics, and I'll fight for my kids to enjoy my passion should they choose to down the road. Don't let them win by allowing the bullies to scare you from buying and enjoying legally what you like with your money.

Back around 1978 the Liberals made the M1 Carbine restricted because they seemed to be the weapon of choice for Montreal bank heists. I don't think that did much to cut down on bank robberies though.:sok2

The future is unknown. Look how fast the world has changed in the last 6 months. Buy what you want and enjoy it for as long as you can. Don't live in fear of what may happen.

Were any banned? Not really. Will any be banned? There is no way for anyone to know for sure. So buy them, shoot them, and enjoy them.

My thoughts? Speculative threads like this are pointless. They achieve nothing.

The casual availability of M2 carbines and random rummage-around boxes of parts did change.

Yes, the OIC knocked out whole groups of guns. Many are newly manufactured, but some like the towed anti-tank guns, mortars and grenade launchers are genuine military surplus.

I like this post.

....in the short term.....anything semi-auto, sks, M-1 carbine and Garand...etc...

the long term.....EVERYTHING....

Air rifles and sling shots are on the long term list, after they've banned every last 870, Wingmaster, Double gun, and single shot. After that they'll ban knives with pointy ends - or at least they did in the UK unless you're rich and willing to give up your privacy. It doesn't mean you can't have them, it just means you can't have them legally.
