I’m a business-minded person and I see these rifles first as fascinating artifacts of history, but second as investments. I don’t want our PM blowing up one my investments and offering me my own tax money back for a fraction of what I paid, but that’s the risk, I suppose.

Gun owners asking if "x" will be banned and if their own personal firearms will be safe are the cucks of the firearms community.
Buy anything and everything you want. You're worried about a $2k Garand? How about the Lahti/mortar/Solothurn/PzB39 etc owners already screwed? Or the G43, FJ42, MG34 sweating it making bed wetting posts? Or the AR guys with $3k Knights Armament SR-15E3's with several thousands of dollars in optics and accessories?

It was... They specifically selected the 18.5 inch length restriction to restrict M1 Carbines. As stated earlier, they were quite popular with the FLQ and bank robbers.

To the OP, you need to stop being afraid. more than likely the politcal move have been done until next election. You will probably be able to sell it for the same price you paid or a few dollars less (maybe more depending on availability) if the reds are reelected.... it needs to be non-restricted though

Advice, research. But specifically I was referring to gun laws/bans when I said speculation is pointless. All these threads do is cause others to panic and worry about the future instead of fighting in the moment and enjoying the moment. Posting threads like this does a disservice to the community. NOBODY knows what the government is going to do, not even them. Hell they just went out for tender on how to implement the ban. So my point, STOP WORRYING.

To answer your question a bunch of milsurps were banned. All anti-tank guns were (Boys, PTRS, PTRD, Solothurn 20mm, etc.). All items with a bore over 20mm were banned as well, many cannons, mortars, and some antique firearms fit in that category.
As to what they are likely to do next, that's anyone's guess and you honestly cannot predict it unless your in their war-room. They might push for more, they might be content for the moment, they might do stuff which doesn't actually ban certain firearms but makes it extremely difficult to possess them (such as banning owning more than 5 guns, if you want to see market price plummet that's how you do it).
Basically buy what you like and hope for the best. You can take more reasonable guesses as to what will be safer, but that is no guarantee. I would never have guessed a ban on anti-tank rifles was coming, and lots of people had a lot of money tied up in them. At one point I even considered building a AT gun collection though cost kept me out of it.

It’s not like I’m sitting on these guns waiting to cash out on them one day. I own them because I think they’re amazing and fascinating. I was just trying to think ahead and probably did let paranoia get the best of me. I do appreciate your input.
