I am really interested in buying one of those new Savage model 42 firearms. It is a combo gun in either 410/.22lr (the one I want) or 410/.22mag. I have looked everywere for one of these, with no luck. Maybe they just are'nt in Canada yet ? Does anyone know who has one ? prefer to see one in person, here in Ontario first, before I pay for one, but I would order online, and get it shipped if thats my only option. I have'nt scene one in person yet, but it looks like the exact type of compact small game gun that I'm looking for.

I already have a H&R 410 Tamer, in Nickel. The option to shoot a grouse with either a .22lr or 410 would be something I am looking for, in the same gun. I know there are other combonation guns out there, like a Baikal, but I would like a synthetic one, because I don't want to have to worry about the wood getting marked/scratched.

I would like to sell my H&R tamer 410, and buy one of those new savage 42 combos in time for my trip up North in the fall, so if anyone knows were to buy one, I would appreciate the heads up....thanks.

Cabelas has them on backorder so no telling how long that would take, but go and talk to a gunshop owner,I don't know how they are in your area but I find most of them will order you in a gun directly from the company.

End of August to mid September before we'll start to see these appear in stores in Canada. They're being made out of their Westfield, MA location.

September of 2013? Noooooooooooooooooo!!!!
I pre ordered the day the were upon the cabelas website. I always said that if i can find a combo gun for 500$ id buy it. The antisipation is KILLING ME!! Need my combo gun...... Slowly dying....... Must....get.....gun.......... Ah......

I like the m6 better, but the Savage is going to be a bush/ beater gun for sure and I won't worry much at all about dragging it through the jackpines.

I hope Savage decides to make some of these 42's in centerfire calibers even if it only sticks to varmint rounds.
I'd also like them to offer full camo versions like the predator series guns I'd buy another one.

These are ugly and mostly plastic but I knew that before buying it.

hows the 42's stock feel? any flex in it at all? they may be ugly but they are utilitarian, but so is my model 24 30-30/20g as well as my Baikal 30-06/12g............

What has savage done for scope mounting options on the new 42?
I can pick your brains now because you are holding one.......................
