PM Sent. I'll put this out to anyone attending, I'm in need of a norc front site. I checked with Dlask and he didn't have any left from when the barrels were chopped.

Too bad...I'm out of town and will be buying my first M-14 out here on Friday...I'm planning on coming back on Saturday morning but may not be able to make it to Surrey by then...I will PM you later this week if it looks like I could make it...

well, a few spots remain open. If you need directions P.M. me, I'll be up late tonite.

ALL previous attendees, if you want to drop in yer more than welcome.

Also, anyone wanting to accompany me to the TMSA TAC RIFLE matches sunday, let me know, I have one seat in the jeep open :D

Well, there weren't a lot of turnups at the Wet coaster, but all that means is MORE DOGNUTS FOR ME!!!

Anyhow, I now have two 18 3/4" shorties ....
First one is set up for CQB, in one of my folding fiberglass stocks. This one has a Chinese bolt, fitted to .308 GO plus .003", Chinese trigger group with GI Hammer, Trigger, Smith Oversize pins, and a Wollf hammer spring, plus Garand rear sight, Badger Ord Op rod guide, GI Op rod spring, Dlask short comp, and my wierd and wonderful front sight replacement.

The folding stock and Dlask Compensator makes this a VERY fast handling yet powerful tool for "close encounters". Future plans include a full length railed handguard of my own design [ a lot like the Troy ... which mounts at the back into the rear sight pocket ] and an Eotech red dot. Distant future plans include an all aluminum stock.

My second shorty I just picked up on the EE. It was originally built by Kevin from Dycor in Edmonton. This one just got the barrel reindexed, a GI bolt lapped in to .308 GO, a complete GI trigger group, and the modified [ threaded 1/2X28 tpi ] Norc flashider. It came in an almost perfect US GI glass stock, and already had a Garand rear sight, SS op rod guide, GI op rod spring, and a Rooster 33 ?tactical? bolt latch [ still undecided if I like that or not ].

Rather than have just one shorty set up for CQB, and throw on the scope and swap over to the GI stock when I want longer range, I decided that a real man really needs TWO shorties. So this one got the ARMS # 18 mount, and a Bushnell 3200 10 X Mildot tactical. Plan A is to see how it shoots set up like this, and if good, leave it so.

Hopefully I now have ENOUGH of those damn M-14 rifles, but after seeing Thomas' last builds, which are accurised a bit further, and set up for longer range shooting with the full length barrel, and a bipod, maybe I need one more?

I already have the VOODOO tactical drag bag, so maybe one more TARGET M-14 would be ENOUGH!!
MAYBE??

But,
I really should listen to my own advice.
A cheap bolt action rifle, complete and ready to go, costs about as much as the M-14 match grade barrel and installation. So maybe I should look for an ACCURATE heavy barrelled bolt gun instead??

Remington??

Savage?

I was thinkin of maybe havin one more clinic , early september, would have to be before the 10th as my 3 month hunting season kicks in and i will be unavaillable for 90 whole days :D

of course i must build another..... but haven't decided which config.
i'm thinkin ... krieger barrel, chopped to 18 3/4, crazy horse bits, trw bolt, Troy MCS ...... eotech ,,,,, hmmmmmm...... but first, hunting season :D :D

So if anyone is up for a clinic in the first week of september...... SPEAK UP HERE

I would like to attend. Sept 7th is problematic for me as it is the motorcycle swap meet in Monroe. My veterans group always has a booth there but I could work the early shift then head north if you had it that day. Saturday is wide open.

i'll let this thread ride till tomorrow, then i'll start a new one with full details and attendance list once the date is finalized.
