The date for the next meeting of the West Coast M14 Support group has now been chosen.

There is no fee for this clinic, but munchies and refreshments are always welcome ;)
The List will form below on a first come first served basis. I have a long list of p.m.'s from folks who missed the 2 January events but it's just going to be too much work to filter through that list of ever 40 names :eek: :eek:
So, please post here AND THEN p.m. me confirmation with user name, real name and phone number. It may take a day or two to get back to you so watch the list below for your name to appear ;)
FULL DETAILS and directions will be sent by p.m. once the list is full or by end of 1st week of Feb.
**** if you want to come in from out of town, I have 2 furnished spare rooms should you want to crash here saturday night.

PARKING will be an issue, I have room for 6 small/medium size vehicles. Carpooling would be cool or there is side street parking a short walk from my place. If you are able to offer carpooling please post here.

I should probably take this time (hijack this thread?) to thank ACP for his time spent on the M14noobs yesterday at the Jan 18 Clinic.

Basically he invited us to drive up on his lawn, invade his house, tear rifles apart in his living room, drive his wife out of the house for 1/2 a day then proceed to run back and forth from his shop to the house 492 times.

Once his wife was back in the house and tried to find a quiet corner we proceeded with grunting swearing and hammering, all as close to where she was trying to watch a DVD as we could possibly get. (Your wife has a sense of humour.)

And through all this ACP kept cool and was a font of knowledge until dark.

I was impressed. If we all did a little bit of this for the sport the world would be a better place.

P.S. Your welder buddy will never be unemployed; I was impressed again.

would this be something good to go to if you have a norinco m14 on the way ,and only seen them at guns shows/never touched one.?

yes.....
the M14 support group meetings are open to those with m14 type rifles, those with m14 type rifles ordered and on the way...... and also for those who are curious about the m14 type rifles and want to learn more.
I say "m14 type rifles" because M1A and other manufacture variants ie: LRB , springfield ect .... are also welcome at our clinics.

I'd also like to sign up for "dsynk" as I know he's probably sleeping now but he'd be pissed if he missed out on this. (We've been talking about trying to get out to one of your events for a while now...)

well i would be the BIG n00bie in the house,and wouldnt want to slow anything down.i have never even taken one of these down (feild or detailed strip).but this does look like something that would help me out alot.i would be comeing from victoria so carpool guys from here can give me a p.m.

We play it pretty loose at our support group meetings with the goal being to show guys how they can tune and tweak thier m14 rifles...... and all it costs is a day hangin out with a bunch of cool CGN m14 owners..... My clinics are free of charge.
what we try to get accomplished is a general inspection of the rifles present. We verify headspace and safety checks and we inspect the complete rifle for fit and function.

Issues identified with each rifle are then addressed based on how much time we have in the day. Occasionally a "theme" will be surrounding the event such as gas cylinder unitizing or barrel pulling for shorty mods. These jobs often take the whole day to get everyone looked after.

This is also why folks are welcome to repeat attendance as often as they feel like.

so at our FREE clinics it is common to find the following things going on:

general disassembly, reassembly , function and safety checks:

1) Function checks for Bolt, trigger group, oprod and gas assembly
headspace checks
2) Barrel indexing check and flash hider inspection
3) bolt dimension checks , ie: firing pin travel and protrusion, firing pin hole dimension check, bolt lug bearing check
4) Trigger check for weight of pull, function of safety, check for 2 stage and for creep.
5) Oprod guide/pin inspection, oprod travel and oprod/receiver fit/travel ( 30 degree test)
6) oprod/gas piston alignment, gas port alignment, gas cylinder/piston general inspection.

Then, once all the rifles have been inspected .... we let everyone loose on the tools, be it barrel vices, dremmel tool, tig welder (when availlable) , chop saw, bolt lapping tools....... ect ect ect.

I am set up to completely service the m14 type rifles with the exception of work involving milling machines/lathes. I farm that out to Dlask Arms.

and all of this..... is done for free in one day, time permitting.

I have been lucky to have 4 individuals who have the same passion for the M14, come to the clinics and get side by side with those in attendance, schooling them on the tools and generally just helping me make this happen on a monthly basis. Doc911, powmia56 , Lazerus2000 and Misanthropist are first class dudes and are generous with what they have learned about the m14 through past clinics and thier own personal "studies" into the rifle and fiearms in general.

we keep it fun, relaxed and encourage this as more of a social event than a "gunsmithing" event. I've met some great people, made some great friends and have handled more m14 rifles than i ever thought i would .
