Have not got out yet and will not hunt till week 2 of rifle season..any muzzleloader success???

I have heard numbers are down...confirmation from anybody on this?

Seemed to be good out around Manitou. Actually saw more bucks than usual. People have said there are less moving about, but that didn't affect our success. I got two and my brother in law got one.
 
Made it out yesterday...Temp was 13 degrees with very little wind...Had a single doe come out at first light...alone. Saw another doe driving over to pick up my buddy. That was it for the day. Evening shoot saw nothing. There were about half as many scrapes as I would expect to see...

Lots of Coyotes howling...
 
I think the population is normal or even high. I have been seeing piles of deer during the ml season out around Virden and around the Souris River Valley. Been seeing nice bucks too. I don't get serious until the last couple weeks of rifle season so we'll see.

Interesting....I am hearing wildly varying reports with some guys (who know how to hunt deer) seeing zilch to this....gonna be out all next week on annual sniper deer jihad so we shall see....hope it cools down lol.
 
Wildly varying is right. I really thought we are going to see nothing based on reports. I am told that some fields where they often congregate by the 100, have only half as many. Good luck to all. I'm going back out for rifle next weekend.
 
in 5 days I have only seen one tail waving at me. Been in Spruce Woods mostly.Seen 2 dead bucks where I have been hunting some massive rubs. one little 4 point been there for weeks, 10 paces away, a huge bodied animal with the head cut off. what a shame. hope the big one is still around
